DIY on Baltimore's FOX45
Of course sugar is a key ingredient for sweet holiday treats, but it's also pretty magical when it comes to winter skincare. Kelly and Kasey recently stopped by FOX45 studios in Baltimore to share two recipes for sugar scrubs you can make at home. These DIY Sugar Scrubs are an amazingly simple, fun and effective!
INGREDIENTS
This recipe makes 3 (8 oz) jars. Please locate the ingredients ahead of time to prepare for each step outlined below.
- Step 1: Exfoliant
- 2 cups cane or white sugar (softly sloughs off dead skin cells)
- Step 2: Oil
- 1/2 cup olive oil (moisturizes skin)
- Step 3: Additives
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
INSTRUCTIONS
- Measure ingredients into a bowl in this order:
- Sugar
- Oil
- Additives
- Mix thoroughly with spoon
- Fill jars with a spoon
- Label jars
Apply your Ginger Snap Sugar Scrub on whole body after cleansing while standing in shower. Rub scrub in a circular motion to slough off dull skin cells and boost circulation. Rinse. Gently pat skin dry.

- 1 1/2 cups coconut oil* (moisturizes skin)
*room temperature
- Step 2: Exfoliants
- 1/4 cup ground coffee (gently remove dead skin cells, increase circulation)
- 3/4 cup cane or white sugar (softly sloughs off dead skin cells)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Use a spatula to blend all ingredients together until all coconut lumps are thoroughly blended in.
- Fill jars with a spoon
- Label jars
